Pink Tie Ball ®

Butterflies represent beauty and metamorphosis, making them an ideal image for the 2009 Pink Tie Ball to benefit the Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure ®. This year's Pink Tie Ball will focus on "the Power of Pink," and will incorporate messages from breast cancer survivors as part of the evening's inspiration.

The Ball will be held on Saturday, June 6 at Noguchi Garden at the Pacific Arts Plaza in Costa Mesa, an outdoor sculpture garden. The exclusive setting under the stars was chosen as an elegant summer evening experience for guests. The 2008 Ball was attended by over 500 guests, including survivors and breast health advocates.

Breast cancer survivors will help to create a display of colorful, whimsical butterflies for the Ball, and their personal messages will be incorporated with the art. The "Wings of Hope" will be one of the fundraising opportunities of the evening. Guests can purchase the unique butterflies for $100 each, hoping to select a secretly marked butterfly that will make them a finalist for several drawing prizes. The ultimate prize for the "Wings of Hope" will be a diamond and pearl necklace donated by Winston's Jewelers and valued at $20,000. (Even if you don't attend the Ball, you can purchase one or more of the butterflies and have a chance to be a finalist.)

Of course, the real winners of the evening will be the women and families in Orange County who will benefit from the Ball's proceeds. Seventy-five percent of the money raised at the Ball will support local programs focused on the breast health needs of underserved populations, and 25 percent will fund the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Award and Research Grant Program for groundbreaking breast cancer research.

Tickets for the Pink Tie Ball are $350 per person, or $3,500 for a table of 10. Sponsorship opportunities are also available. The evening will also include a gourmet dinner, dancing, a live and a silent auction, and "Ignite Your Promise," a monthly contribution program that is supported by Yard House Restaurants.

Cindy was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998 at age 33 and four years later, in June 2002, the disease returned. Having been a very young target for breast cancer, she feels extremely fortunate to have successfully battled the disease twice and credits the improvements in both breast cancer education and diagnostics for her early detection and ultimate recovery. Determined to spread the word and reinforce the importance of early detection, Cindy decided to combine her passion for wine and golf to raise money for breast cancer research and education.

She has chosen The Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® as the sole beneficiary of all proceeds from the Reds, whites & greens Charity Golf Classic because her personal cause is consistent with this organization’s mission – to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment.

Given the overwhelming demand to participate in this event, we have replaced on-line registration with a priority list sign-up. We will contact you in the order we receive your registration. Please note if the golf tournament is full, you can purchase a dinner ticket for $75 and attend our awards dinner and participate in our auctions.
